Friday Night Races
Friday Night Races are a fun way to introduce children to swimming competitions in a relaxed environment. The emphasis is on self-improvement, with awards being presented for personal best times and placings. All children currently enrolled in any squad, from Marlin up, at any Carlile Swimming pool can be involved. It is not necessary to be a member of a registered swimming club to participate.
Races are held every Friday night during school term, starting at 7pm. The events for each week are displayed on the noticeboard at each pool.
Friday Night Races are held at our Killarney Heights, Cherrybrook and Norwest pools.
Fees
$2.00 (incl. GST) per entry, with a $8.00 (incl. GST) max per family. Relays are $4.00 (incl. GST) per team.
Time Trials
All races are seeded according to times. A swimmer’s first swim in any stroke or distance will be a time trial. This time then becomes that swimmer’s ‘Best Time’ to be filled in on the entry card. Please make sure you write down the correct best time in the space provided on the entry card.
Log Books
Log Books for the purpose of recording weekly times are available for purchase every race night, for the price of $3.00. This is an ideal way to keep track of times, ensuring that entry cards are completed with the correct ‘Best Times’.
Awards
Award cards are presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings and all Best Times.
Medals are achieved when a swimmer has accumulated enough award cards as follows:
- Bronze Medal for 15 award cards
- Silver Medal for 25 award cards
- Gold medal for 50 award cards
If a swimmer accumulates 100 award cards, he or she is presented with a trophy. Presentations of medals are made before the commencement of races each week.
