Our People

Description goes here...

Our people are our most important asset. Our focus, through our staff, systems and teaching methods, is people and their potential.

Our 12 swim schools employ over 450 staff and serve the needs of over 20,000 families every week across Sydney and Melbourne and word of mouth from our satisfied customers continues to be our best marketing tool.

This reputation for quality, consistency and innovation has been earned over 60 years of continuous operation commencing in the rock pools of Sydney in the 1950’s and culminating in the network of modern indoor, heated and child focused facilities Carlile Swimming operates today.

Our Company founders Forbes and Ursula Carlile, are World renowned Olympic swim coaches and pioneering sports scientists and educators. Their collective passion and dedication to excellence in swimming training and education has seen great recognition and awards over many years. Highlights include Forbes’ admission to the World Swimming Hall of Fame in 1977. Read more about our history.

Carlile Swimming offers on-going professional development and mentoring at every level of our business with a number of our original swimming teachers now managing our facilities. Read more about Carlile Swimming staff.

Carlile Swimming offers a range of employment and career opportunities within our organisation and these include:

Operations Managers

Our Operations Managers have the overall responsibility at each of the centres. In addition to administration, they are actively involved in the swim program, either teaching, coaching or supervising classes.

Supervisors

Our supervisors are our most experienced teachers and are your link to us. They are available to discuss your child’s progress and address your concerns. Please feel free to approach them at any time.

Teachers

All Carlile Swimming swim teachers undergo our intensive Teacher Training Program. Teacher training has always been a priority and our training programs are highly regarded, worldwide. Our teachers take a special interest in each and every child and work closely with our supervisors to ensure optimum results.

Spare Teachers

During our busiest times, additional teachers are scheduled to ensure we consistently maintain high quality lessons. Our most experienced staff are often utilised as spares, where their role is to provide extra assistance with difficult classes, tentative children, or those who may be on the verge of moving up to the next level.

Trainee Teachers

As part of our comprehensive teacher training process, all new teachers are required to work closely with our more experienced staff, before they are allowed to conduct classes on their own. Occasionally, these trainee teachers will be involved with your child, giving assistance to the regular teacher and learning the program along the way.

Customer Service

Our receptionists are the first point of contact for parents. Their comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of our program enables them to quickly and accurately address enquiries. If you have questions about payments, bookings or scheduling, please do not hesitate to speak to one of our friendly Customer Service staff.

Working with Children

In accordance with child protection laws and prior to employment, all staff members are required to participate in a screening process which determines their suitability for working with children.
