Carlile Swimming back on top of Australia

Carlile Swimming Team In A Photo Together

The mighty St Peters Western had won the title 11 years in a row but thanks to an incredible Australian Age Championships Carlile Swimming topped the point score on 2009 with St Peters Western 1787 and Knox Pymble 1757.

The new look coaching team headed by Chris Nesbit started in October 2021. It is amazing to sit back and appreciate the progress the team has made in less than 4 years. In April 2021 Carlile finished 41st, they were 21st in 2022, 9th in 2023, 7th in 2024, and now 1st.

So many of this young team progress have progressed through the swim schools into the Carlile competitive pathway. It is always difficult to single out swimmers when the team has been so successful but special mention to 13-year-old girls Charlotte Lim, Lexi Mulcahy and Hannah Jamieson winning 16 medals between them – six gold, seven silver and three bronze.

Charlotte (pictured above) winning her gold medals in the 200IM and the 100m and 200m backstroke double, with Lexi taking the 800m and 1500m freestyle double. In the 1500 Lexi swam a 28 second PB and won the event by more and 22seconds. Older sister Isobel also won the 800m and 1500m freestyle double in the 15 years division.

After making the National Flipper Open Water squad this year, Issy (pictured below) has gone from strength to strength in her distance Freestyle events grabbing bronze in the 400m last night as well.

Congratulations to Chris and his team of Adam Mallett, Michaela Pattinson, Danny Marshall, Jodie Armstrong, Jeremy Lagonilla, sports scientist Gina Sacilotto and Competitive Pathways coordinator Sophie Taylor. Also thanks for the support of the Carlile Foundation and the swimmers’ families.

This Carlile Swimming Team is carrying forward the legacy of Forbes and Ursula Carlile and the founders would be so very proud. Find out how Swimming World covered Carlile’s victory here
